Mabel "Ann" Weber's Obituary
Mabel Ann Weber, age 87, joined her Heavenly Father on June 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 16, 1937, to Cyrus and Mabel (Haglund) Jetter in Muskegon, MI. She was raised in Morley, MI and graduated in 1954 as Valedictorian from Morley High School in three years. Ann continued her education at the University of Michigan, graduating Magna Cum Laude also in three years earning her Bachelor of Education degree.
In 1956, Ann married the love of her life, Walter Weber at Bethel Lutheran Church in Howard City, MI. Together they cherished 68 years full of love, laughter and endless family adventures.
Ann began her teaching career in Lansing, MI while her husband attended Michigan State University. After his graduation in 1960, the couple made their way to Ravenna, which has been home ever since. Ann was a dedicated educator and spent most of her 30 years as a First grade teacher. She loved watching her students’ faces light up as they learned to read. Ann was awarded recognition as a teacher of the year and retired in 1991.
Ann was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church for the last 65 years. She volunteered her time serving on the education committee and taught Bible school in the summers. Ann also had a passion for gardening and was gifted with a green thumb. After retirement, Wally and Ann took the time to enjoy life. They enjoyed spending time traveling together, visiting out of state family and friends, attending antique tractor shows and exploring historical sites.
What Ann will be mostly remembered for is her love for her family. She was a loving, supportive wife, amazing mom, doting grandma and great-grandmother. Her humor and enthusiasm will be missed by many.
She is survived by her loving husband, Walter Weber; four children, Jaimi (Mark) Kent, Jeffrey (Wanda) Weber, Michael (Sandy) Weber and Sue Vavra; ten grandchildren, Andrew Kent, Chris (Kara) Kent, Laura (Cody Mitchell) Weber, Emily (Anthony Chingman) Weber, Jacob Weber, Adam (McKenzie) Weber, Isaac (Cyndi) Vavra, Luke (Katie Carole) Vavra, Noah (Katie Chadwick) Vavra and Anna (Thaine Boehme) Vavra; one great-grandchild, Cameron Brady Kent; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Cyrus R. Jetter, and grandchildren, Michael Brady Kent and Bianca Weber.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, 4085 Lutheran Church Rd., Kent City, MI 49330. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at The Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 3570 Thomas St., Ravenna, MI 49451; and also one hour prior (10-11AM) to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ann’s honor can be directed to the Mamrelund Lutheran Food Pantry or Hospice of Michigan. She will be laid to rest at Ravenna Township Cemetery at 2:15 PM following the luncheon. Share memories with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
