Miss Madaline Marie Schmitt's Obituary
Miss Madaline Marie Schmitt, age 89, passed away Wednesday, April 08, 2015 in Muskegon. She was born in Muskegon on June 5, 1925 to Jacob and Anna (Weiler) Schmitt and was a life resident of the area. Madaline was part of the first LPN graduating class at Muskegon Community College and went on to work for over 30 years as a nurse at Mercy Hospital before retiring in 1993. Prior to her nursing career, she had been employed by the Norge for over 20 years. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was part of the Altar Society and the luncheon committee. Madaline enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, traveling, and was a member of the BUNCO Club for 62 years. She is survived by two brothers, Jerry (Susan) Schmitt and Eugene (Eleanor) Schmitt; four sisters, Margaret Houseman, Martha Beauleaux, Joyce Muston and Cecilia Kerr; sister-in-law, Pat (Wayne) Franklin and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Charles and Jacob Schmitt; two sisters, Katherine Scofield and Anna Schmitt; four brother-in-laws, Chester Scofield, John Houseman, Robert Beauleaux and Jim Muston and one sister-in-law, Theresa Schmitt. Madaline’s MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 3:00 PM Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Donn Tufts presiding. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Friday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave, 231-726-5210 with the ROSARY prayed at 6 PM. VISITATION will also be from 2-3 PM Saturday at church. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Cedar Creek Township.
