Mae Marie Babich's Obituary
Mae Marie Babich, age 93, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Grand Haven, MI. She was born May 1, 1930, to Lester and Florence (Pasha) Welton in Saugatuck, MI and was the oldest of 6 children. When she was younger, her family moved to Fruitport, MI. She attended Coopersville High School and graduated in 1948. While working at the Dinner Bell in Fruitport, she met her future husband. On July 4, 1955, she married John Babich and they spent 68 wonderful years together. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and loved to watch and attend games with her family. Mae will be dearly missed by her husband, John; daughter, Joanne (Stephen) Jones; son, Mark (Carol) Babich; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchild, Oakleigh Christian; and sisters, Carol Giant and Patsy Fordton. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marilyn Stromberg and Joyce Fordton; and brother, Dick Welton. A PRIVATE FAMILY FUNERAL SERVICE will take place at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (620 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417).
