Mae Elizabeth Liefer's Obituary
Mrs. Mae Elizabeth Liefer, age 99, passed away Monday, August 29, 2005 at a local nursing home. She was born May 16, 1906 in Bear Lake, MI to Herman and Pearl (Gauthier) Tetzlaff and had lived in the Muskegon area since 1918. On October 23, 1941, she married Otto Liefer and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1979. Mrs. Liefer worked as a sales clerk for Menzie’s Variety Store before retirement. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and was an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. SURVIVORS include 2 sons, Bruce (Deb) Liefer of Grand Haven, Dave (Barb) Liefer of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren, Andy Liefer, Jason (Shawn) Liefer, Nicole (Brent) Enders, Ivan Teeple, Amy Liefer, and Justin Liefer; 3 great grandchildren, Jordan, Brady, and Kaylee Mae; many special friends and neighbors, including Catherine Kozoil. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and 4 brothers. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, September 1, 2005, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Phillip A. Sliwinski presiding. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with Mrs. Liefer’s family will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed 7:00 PM Wednesday evening. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Muskegon County Catholic Education Foundation or St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
