Majel Grace Holdren's Obituary
Mrs. Majel Grace (Buck) Holdren, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Heartwood-Knollview Nursing Home. Born in Elsie, MI, she graduated from Ovid High School and Lansing Business School. She served as W.T. Grant Co. Office Manager in Muskegon, MI for many years until that company’s demise then worked at Sunrise Memorial Gardens until her retirement. She volunteered in the First Congregational Church office, her church home for the past 25 years. She was also an enthusiastic bridge player. Majel was preceded in death by her mother, Alice (Hawkins) Buck, her father, Jesse E. Buck, her three sisters: Margaret, Mildren (Buck) Burns, and Maxine. Her husband, David passed away in 1983 after 41 years of marriage. She is survived by a son, David M. Holdren and wife, Sue, of San Angelo, TX; a daughter, Raymajean Oliver of Bryan, TX; grandchildren, Clifford Oliver of Muskegon, MI, and Jennifer Sue (Mrs. Eric) Voigt of Austin, TX; and three great grandchildren: Thomas Oliver, Andrew Oliver and Kaysey (Mrs. Jonathan) Cooper. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at First Congregational Church on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Senior Minister, The Reverend Timothy VanderHaar, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Music Fund at First Congregational Church of Muskegon. Arrangements handled by The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210.
