Mandy Lynn Thompson's Obituary
Mandy Lynn Thompson, age 32, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 in Grand Rapids. Mandy was born August 29, 1981 to Scott and Diane (Kersting) Schmiedeknecht in Muskegon. On February 24, 2007 she married Paul W. Thompson. Mandy was a loving, caring, giving person with a kind spirit. When Mandy would walk into a room the room would light up as if the sun was following her. She was full of friendliness and flair. Mandy’s smile and laughter will be greatly missed. Along with her husband, Paul, Mandy is SURVIVED by her parents, Scott Schmiedeknecht and Diane (Michael) Erb; her sister, Angela Hawkins of Twin Lake; mother-in-law, Nora Simila; grandparents, Marvin C. Kersting and Bonnie Schmiedeknecht; stepmother, Naia Ahern; step-brother, Scott (Kelly Haverman) Erb; step-sister, Angela (Cliff) Hammer; aunts and uncles and several nieces and nephews. Mandy was preceded in death by her grandmother, Helen M. Kersting; grandfather, Dale L. Schmiedeknecht; and father-in-law, Steven L. Thompson. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 22, 2014, at Oak Crest Church of God, 1540 Leonard St., with Pastor Rick D. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
