Marcella R. Appel's Obituary
Marcella R. Appel, age 91, passed away early on Sunday, November 28, 2021. She was born on June 15, 1930 to Del “George” and Ruth (Herington) Bull in Muskegon, MI. She was a graduate of Muskegon High School class of 1948. She was a dedicated employee of Reid Tool Supply, where she focused on clerical work for 30 years before retiring in 1998. On October 6, 1950 she married the love of her life, James Appel in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 31 years full of love and laughter. James preceded her in death on November 23, 1981. In her earlier years, she loved going to hockey games with her husband. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and reading. Marcella also loved to swim and often would visit her son in Florida to take advantage of his pool! Her tender-loving and gracious spirit will truly be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her 2 children, Gary (Maria) Appel and Linda (Duane Brown) Appel; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Appel; daughter, Janet Freye; and sister, Marian Davis. A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2188 Remembrance Dr., Muskegon, MI 49442. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 6-8:00 PM on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
