Marcella Ann Lasko's Obituary
Marcella Ann Lasko, age 89, of Muskegon and formerly of Nunica passed away early Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at a Muskegon care facility. She was born March 8, 1919, in Muskegon to Anton and Mary (Blindauer) Benkert and she married Mike Lasko on April 29, 1939, in Coopersville, MI. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2001.
Mrs. Lasko was a lifelong area resident and was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Coopersville. She had operated the Cloverleaf Restaurant in Fruitport along with her husband and retired from Shaw Walker in 1978. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan (fiancé Jim) Rohn and Ruth Dowd, both of Muskegon; a son, Thomas (Carol) Lasko of Nunica; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Langlois of Nunica; three brothers: Eugene (Louise) Benkert of Spring Lake, Charles (Doris) Benkert of Nunica, and Donald (Pat) Benkert of Muskegon. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy David, and three brothers: Joseph, Harold, and Raymond Benkert.
The funeral liturgy for Marcella will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2008, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Coopersville with Rev. Anthony Pelak as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 4, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven (please use east entrance) with a Rosary service at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
