Marcia Grace Ames' Obituary
Mrs. Marcia Grace Ames, age 90, passed away at her home on Friday, December 26, 2025 with her family by her side. Marcia was born in Muskegon, Michigan on August 16, 1935 to Raymond and Anna (DeRooy) Allison. She graduated from North Muskegon High School and began her career at Floyd’s Pharmacy. She later worked at Napsol Refinery and Freshway Market, followed by 16 years of dedicated service at Reeths-Puffer High School. Throughout these years, she concurrently spent more than 30 years working in administration and payroll for the family business, Ames Disposal. Marcia was truly a social butterfly, with an extensive circle of friends who cherished her warm and welcoming nature. She was a peaceful and deeply caring woman, qualities that led her to open her home and serve as the primary caregiver for several family members in need of end-of-life care. She is survived by her four children, Steve (Karen) Ames, Marcy (Joe) Hunter, Carla (Dave) Barnett, and Liz (Tom) Ball; eight grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald J. Ames; her parents; and three sisters, Dorothy, Helen, and Jean. A CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with VISITATION one hour prior to her service. Burial will be in East Dalton-Oakhill Cemetery. MEMORIALS in memory of Marcia may be directed to the Harbor Hospice Foundation. You may sign her online guestbook at https://www.sytsemafh.com
