Marcia Lynn McCarthy's Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Marcia Lynn McCarthy, 76, announce her passing on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at her home in Muskegon. Born February 7, 1945, to Orville and Marguerite (Horne) Rasor, Marcia was a lifelong resident of Muskegon. Marcia was a prime example of perseverance and hard work which she demonstrated her whole life. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and worked various jobs to provide for her family. It was during this time she lovingly raised 4 children while continuing her education. In 1994 she earned her degree in nursing and her passion for helping others continued to flourish. Through her love and dedication to her family, her children were able to excel in their talents while she continued to excel in hers. As a mother, she was her children’s greatest fan and never missed a chance to support and cheer for their success. This deep love continued on to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many summers were spent laughing with the whole family traveling anywhere her Beeline could be pulled. While she wasn’t spending time with her family, she was excitedly traveling the country working as a much respected nurse. Marcia was also an avid sports fan and attended many professional sporting events with her children and grandchildren throughout the years. During these games she was the life of the party and never missed the chance to dance in the aisle or throw out a beach ball. Her spirit and excitement were contagious to all of those around her. Her happiest times were spent with family and friends but nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than being around children. As an active mother and grandmother, she spent the last few years watching her great grandchildren grow. She wouldn’t hesitate to jump on the playground or play in the water at the beach. She will forever be remembered walking the family path to the lake shore no matter the season or the obstacles in the way. With the creek on the left and the weeds growing high, she was never afraid to forge her own path and push through. Growing up on the shores of Lake Michigan, Marcia loved nature, animals (especially her beloved Chewy, Garbage “Goobs”, and Momma Kitty), and helping others. She could be found every morning on her front porch with a coffee and a smile soaking in the day. As the center of our family, Marcia will forever be remembered as tough, loving, and incredibly intelligent. With her soft red hair and kind smile, she is forever our example of love, happiness, and strength. She is survived by her four cherished children: Lizabeth Lott, Michelle Hiller, Jason McCarthy, and Laura McCarthy; her cherished grandchildren: Raychelle Noel, Michael Cole, Alyssa Place, David Anderson, Jared DeMint, and Alex (Sage) Gilbert; and her cherished great grandchildren: Phillip Place and Madeline Place. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time. A small service and reuniting of Marcia with her parents will be performed this spring in Rankin, Illinois. In lieu for flowers, Marcia’s family ask for donations to be made to Senior Resources of West Michigan. Their services provided invaluable comfort and care in our time of need. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Systema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Service, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442
