Margaret Ewen Cresse's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Ewen “Peg” Cresse, age 94, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021. She was born in Glassboro, NJ on April 19, 1926 to Russell and Alma (Grim) Ewen. On August 25, 1951, Peg married Stewart Cresse in Glassboro. Shortly after being married, they moved to Delaware, spent a short time in Kansas, and finally settled in Illinois. While in Illinois, they lived in Danville, Morris, and Batavia. Peg spent many years teaching middle school English at various schools. After spending several years wintering in Florida, they moved to Naples where they spent 20 years. While in Naples, Peg was an active volunteer at the Naples Community Hospital and Naples Philharmonic. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, especially at Cape May, NJ (and eating fresh seafood), traveling and visiting friends, and shopping at all sorts of unique stores. Stewart passed away on March 2, 2014, and at that time Peg moved to Michigan to be near her son, Stewart Jr. and Carla. Peg was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Muskegon and was active with the Sarah Circle. She is survived by her son, Stewart (Carla DeRemer) Cresse Jr.; seven grandchildren, Adam (Jen) Cresse, Regina (Dominic) Butel, Kelly (Aadam) Alikhan, Emily (Abby) Gross, Katie DeRemer, Jake DeRemer, and David Michael Mason; six great-grandchildren, Andrew and Alex Cresse, Maddox and Addy Alikhan, Garrett and Blake Butel; and one nephew, David Trend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Cresse; daughter, Susan Mason; daughter-in-law, Beth Cresse; and sister, Jean Trend. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. MEMORIALS in memory of Peg may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
