Margaret Anna Dolislager's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Anna Dolislager, born November 21, 1928, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 9, 2019. Surrounded by family, she passed at age 91 at the Poppen House Hospice in Norton Shores, MI. Margaret graduated from Shelby High School in 1946 as valedictorian of her class. She proudly graduated from the Hackley School of Nursing in 1949. Margaret married John William Dolislager, her husband of 60 years, on October 18, 1950. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother of six children, she worked at Hackley Hospital for over 40 years with the majority of that time serving as an RN in the emergency room where she loved the work and variety of patients. She was well-respected and held in high regard by her coworkers; she treated each and every patient medically and personally with dignity and respect. She loved to knit and crochet items for family and friends; she also created and maintained genealogies for both the Dolislager and Folkema families. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church and member of the First CRC in Muskegon. While at First CRC, Margaret published the church newsletter “The Messenger” for many years. In her early retirement years, she and her husband distributed Bibles as a part of the Reach Out Bible Ministry. Margaret touched many people's lives and was widely loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Clara (Folkema) Vandenberg; her loving husband, John William Dolislager; her brother, William; her sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Emmett Hunt; her granddaughter, Lisa Deanne Dolislager, and a niece, Lois Parker. She is survived by her six children: Leon (Neila) Dolislager of Fair Oaks, CA, Jim (Carla) Dolislager of Rocklin, CA, Wayne (Marilee) Dolislager of Norton Shores, MI, Arla Dolislager of Kentwood, MI, Joel (Ruth) Dolislager of Laketon Township, MI, Doug (Sharon) Dolislager of Laketon Township, MI; grandchildren: Marcos (Sarah), Lucas, Sara (Aaron), Michael (Elyse), Mark, Megan, Melissa, Joshua (Claire), Sheila, and Christine; nieces and nephews: Terry (Cathy) Hunt, Randy (Janet) Hunt, Ann (Louis) Aguilar; Ron (Phyllis) Dolislager, Donna (Alan) Johnson, Don (Michelyn) Shriver, Mary (Richard) Affriseo, Joan Workman, Kathy (Chuck) Willer, Barbara Workman; great-grandchildren: Calvin, Austin, Brett, Kate, Andrew, Anna, and Walter. The family would like to thank the staff and friends of White Lake Assisted Living in Whitehall, MI for the wonderful care they provided their Mother over the last two and a half years. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 12, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Pastor Scott VanArendonk officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (10-11 AM). Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
