Margaret Ann Hodal's Obituary
Margaret Ann Hodal, age 90, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012, at a local care facility. She was born April 18, 1921, in Grand Haven to Rudolph John and Margaret Mary (Kundelius) Hodal.
Margaret was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and it’s Women’s Club. She worked at Eagle Ottawa Leather Company and St. Lazare Retreat House in Spring Lake for many years as a secretary. Margaret was always active in planning her Grand Haven High School class reunions and also a member of the Secretary’s Club. She also was an avid flower gardener.
Margaret is lovingly survived by her 2 sisters, Bertha Bakale of Spring Lake and Helen “Honey” Blaskis of Fleming Island, Florida; 6 nieces: Jeanne (Roger Dye) Bakale, Margo (Jim) Hall, Margaret Louise (Russ) Gerleve, Margaret Wolfner, Emilie (Phil) Van Dusen, Barbara (Scott) Orangio; 3 nephews: Richard (Mary) Bakale, Ralph (Robin) Nelson, Mark (Diane) Blaskis; cousins, Robert (Helen) Kundelius and Junior Kundelius; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Emilie Nelson in 2011; and 3 brothers-in-law: William Blaskis in 1985, Joseph Bakale in 2000, and Ralph Nelson in 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Daniel DePew presiding. Friends may meet the family from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m. at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Margaret may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Lazare Retreat House.
