Margaret Mary Houseman's Obituary
Margaret M. Houseman, age 96, went home to her Savior on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Christian Care Living Center. She was born February 6, 1927 in Muskegon to Jacob and Anna (Weiler) Schmitt and lived her entire life in the area. On November 21, 1970, she married John Houseman in New Era. Margaret worked as a seamstress for Caron Casuals prior to retirement. She was a member of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church where she volunteered with the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed shuffleboard, square dancing, wintering in Florida and playing Bunco with the club her sisters formed decades ago and is still on-going. Margaret especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family and her grandchildren. Survivors include 5 children, Darrell (Joyce) Houseman, Marcia (Jerry) Strait-Thomas, Jerry (Kay) Houseman, Maureen (Dennis) Boelkins, Matthew (Connie) Palsrok; 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Eugene Schmitt, Jerry Schmitt, 1 sister, Cecilia Kerr; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Maurice Palsrok; her second husband, John Houseman; her step-daughter, Joan (Joe) Glover; 2 brothers, Charles and Jake Schmitt; 4 sisters, Madeline Schmitt, Katherine Schofield, Joyce Muston and Martha Beauleaux. The family would like to thank her caregiver, Sally Klassen for the comforting care she gave to Margaret. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Fruitport Christian Reformed Church, 3520 Pontaluna Road, Fruitport, with Pastor John Huyser officiating. Visitation will be held 5:30-7:30 PM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Interment will take place at New Era Cemetery.
