Margaret "Marge" Jawor's Obituary
Margaret “Marge” Jawor, age 103, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025. She was born July 25, 1921 in Muskegon to Peter and Mary (Szekely) Lakatos. On July 5, 1947, she married the love of her life, Vitald “Vit” Jawor and they spent 68 happy years together. She was a charter member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and an original member of the choir. Marge was quite a country singer in her younger days. She also sang Latin for 60 years until the Church switched to English. She loved to dance the jitterbug and polka at the Fruitport Pavilion. Marge was an accomplished seamstress, gardener, and loved to cook Hungarian and Polish food. She is survived by her children, Joe (Susan) Jawor, Verone Louise Jawor; grandson, Neal (Jackie) Card; great grandson, Liam Card; sister, Theresa Kuzniar; brothers, Joseph (Pat) Lakatos, Alex (Delphine) Lakatos, Dennis (Patty) Lakatos; god-daughter, Susan Gelling; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vitald Jawor; brothers, George Lakatos, Peter Lakatos, Jim Lakatos; and sisters, Mary Nauta, Veronica Borns, Rosie Hartman, and Erma Jones. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, June 23, 2025 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 3252 E. Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church. Entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Muskegon Polish Festival.
