Margaret M. Platt's Obituary
Margaret M. Platt, age 83, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Trinity Hospital in Muskegon, MI. She was the eldest child born to Douglas and Madeline (Pastucha) Platt.
She graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 1959 and took various classes at Muskegon Community College. She worked at Teledyne Continental as an Administrative Accountant, retiring in 1993 after 32 years of service.
She was a long-time member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where she served as a Religious Education Teacher for elementary schoolchildren. She was also a co-editor of the “Channel of Peace” newsletter. She served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, member of both Pastoral and Finance Councils, chaired the Senior Bingo Group and served as a community outreach liaison for holiday baskets and gifts as well as the Monthly Meals for Christian Community Center, along with many various projects when needed.
Aside from her parish involvement, she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, group leader for Junior Catholic Daughters of Americas, Junior Achievement and a member of the National Management Association and the National Accountants Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Madeline Platt; brother, Tim Platt; nephew, Donnie Keefe; great-nephew, Cameron Turnage; and her best fur-friend & companion, Drew. She will always be remembered as a loving, kind, generous, peaceful, and independent person by her family, friends, and co-workers.
Margaret is survived by her brother, Douglas (Rebecca) Platt; sisters: Catherine (Donald) Keefe, Susan (Edward) Szymas, Mary (Fred) Lane; sister-in-law, Demera Platt; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and other extended family and friends. A special thank you to Kim Brush, Mark Robillard, Pat & Fred McWain, and the staff at Heartwood Lodge.
The FUNERAL MASS will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church Marian Chapel, 2929 McCracken St, Norton Shores, MI at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, with Father Steven Geerling officiating. VISITATION will take place one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon.
