Margaret A. Smith's Obituary
Margaret Ann Smith, age 90, passed away in Fremont, MI, on Thursday, February 16, 2023. Margaret was born on January 21, 1933, in Detroit, MI, to her parents Carroll and Lillian (Leach) Dutterer. She moved to Muskegon when she was young, living the rest of her life in the area. In 1956 she married Robert Lockwood, and they spent 17 wonderful years raising their family together until he preceded her in death in 1973. She later married Charles Smith, and they spent 25 years together until he preceded her in death in 2005. Margaret was a warm-hearted person that enjoyed cooking and hosting parties, and she loved to decorate her house for every holiday. Margaret was a homemaker, but also worked as a manager of Olan Mills Photography Studio for some years before retiring in 1990. She was very active in her community, serving as president of Holton High School’s PTA for many years, and also as a troop leader and den mother to the local Boy/Girl Scout’s groups. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Robert (Renee) Lockwood, Reneé Rauén, Roy Lockwood, and Rhonda Baily; seven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Lillian Dutterer; first husband, Robert Lockwood; second husband, Charles Smith; and brother, Carrol Dutterer Jr. A private funeral service will be held for Margaret, arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E.
