Margaret A. Klinkner's Obituary
Margaret A. Klinkner, age 81, died peacefully Monday evening, August 23, 2010, following a brief illness. Margaret was born in Muskegon on July 6, 1929 to Arnold and Emma (Quarmby) Broadbent. She was youngest of four children and the first of her family to be born in the United States. Margaret graduated from Muskegon Heights H.S. in 1946 at the age of 16 and was in the top ten of her class. Following graduation, Margaret went to work at G.T.E. and was quickly promoted to chief operator. She retired from Muskegon Public Schools where she was a secretary for more than 20 years and then went to work at Harbor Psychological. Margaret married Mr. Gilbert Klinkner in Muskegon on August 2, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1975. Margaret was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the Vikings Linne Lodge #57 and was a volunteer at the Frauenthal Center and Hackley Hospital. She enjoyed her many friends, playing bridge, traveling, music and the arts, and keeping abreast of current events. She is survived by her loving family: two daughters, Katie Klinkner of Muskegon and Sandra Elliott of Wisconsin; a son, Dan (Martha) Klinkner of Bellaire, MI; two, granddaughters, Whitney and Samantha Klinkner, and special friend, Joe Iwaniec. She was also preceded in death by a son Jeffery and a daughter, Cynthia. The Memorial Service will be held at: The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 11:00 A.M., Saturday, Rev. Gerald Hagans officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday evening 6-8 P.M. Memorial contributions to the Viking Scholarship Fund or Senior Resources will be appreciated.
