Margaret E. Carlson's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Carlson, age 80, died Saturday morning, December 18, 2004, at her home. She was born August 16, 1924 in Muskegon to Albert & Elsie (Schrader) Strand and has been a life resident of the area. Margaret was a member of Evanston Avenue Baptist Church and a former member of Dalton Baptist Church where she loved working with children and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She and her husband, Clarence, were also foster parents. Prior to her retirement, Margaret had worked at Muskegon Auto Parts and Montgomery Wards. She enjoyed knitting and she gave many mittens to the Muskegon Rescue Mission. On December 14, 1946 she married Earl “Clarence” Carlson and he survives her along with 2 sons, Robert (Wendy) Carlson and Ronald (Sarah) Carlson, all of North Muskegon; 2 grandchildren, James Carlson of Muskegon and Sarah (Jonathon) Bishop of Kentwood, MI; 2 great-grandchildren, Kimberlynn Carlson and Alexander Bishop; 1 brother, John Strand of Chula Vista, CA and by many nieces and nephews. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Evanston Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Al Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with Margaret’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday at Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210). In lieu of flowers, you are asked to consider Hospice of Muskegon – Oceana or Evanston Ave. Baptist Church.
