Margaret R. "Peggy" Lafferty's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret R. “Peggy” Lafferty, age 77, passed away at home on July 20, 2011. She was born on February 27, 1934 to James and Ruth (Birath) Gearin in Worcester, MA. Peggy married Gerald Lafferty on Jan. 15, 1955 in Worcester and they have celebrated 56 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and of the Irish American Society. Margaret enjoyed taking photos and reading as well as being the family historian. For 32 years, she worked as a telephone operator at Mercy Hospital. SURVIVORS include her husband, Gerald; 4 children, Diane (Michael) Wright of Grand Rapids, Gerald Lafferty III of Roosevelt Park, Donna (Eric) Thompson of Hamilton and Michael Lafferty of Seattle; 5 grandchildren, Michael Jr., David, Megan, Matt and Sean; 4 great-grandchildren, Dexter, Caitlyn, Steven and Emma; 1 brother, Richard (Joan) Gearin of Florida and by several nieces and nephews. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 12 Noon, Friday, July 22, 2011 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz as celebrant. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Thursday (this evening) at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Harbor Hospice or to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.). Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
