Margaret S. Pressey's Obituary
We celebrate the life and passing of Margaret, our mother and grandmother, on January 14, 2012. Margaret was born November 14, 1920 in Branch, Michigan to Ora Rose (Buck) Thorson and Andrew Thorson. She was one of ten children, two of whom survive her; sisters Bonnie Thorson and Mary Lou Tibbits. Her family moved to Muskegon when she was a young girl and she attended Muskegon Public Schools. In 1941 she married Manfield (Manny) Pressey and they had three daughters; Delorma, who survives her, Linda and Kaye, both deceased, and whom she sadly missed. Her family also includes 7 grandchildren and their spouses, and 10 great-grandchildren. Margaret worked for Muskegon Township, the State of Michigan, served on the Orchard View School Board, volunteered for the American Red Cross Senior Transportation, and edited the SERA newsletter for several years. She bowled for many years, enjoyed traveling with the Orchard View Travel Group, and attending concerts and plays. A nice sunny day would find her checking out local garage sales and second hand stores. She thanks and sends her love to all of her family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers who made her 91 years memorable. A special thanks goes to Lisa, Shawn, Ann, and Melissa. To the Hume Home and Poppen Residence, thank you for your kindness. To Delorma, for your unwavering love and devotion that allowed Grandma to maintain her independence and dignity which was so very important to her – we thank you!
Please join us as we pay our respects to Margaret. Services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, January 16, with visitation one hour prior to the service at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with Pastor Tom Case officiating. You may sign the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com Margaret wishes donations be made to the American Red Cross Muskegon Senior Transportation.
