Margarette H. Bluhm's Obituary
Margarette H. Bluhm walked into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, April 10, 2014 after a courageous battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s. She was born on October 25, 1926 to Thomas and Katie (Manners) Norris in Muskegon Hts. She attended Muskegon Heights schools and later was a graduate of Orchard View Adult Education Program, graduating in 1991. On May 24, 1947 she married Army veteran Orville E. Bluhm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Muskegon. In her younger years Margarette worked at the D&C Store, W.T. Grant Co. and later, as a dietary aide at Knollview Nursing Home for 18 years until her retirement in 1988. She was active in the Nutritional Services Program for Older Americans and with the Orchard View Seniors. With a passion for volunteering, she spent many years working in the gift shop at Muskegon General Hospital and also with the hot lunch program at Trinity Lutheran Church. For several years Margarette enjoyed being a part of Fellowship Reformed Church Senior Program. Her hobbies included Bingo, working puzzles, reading, plants and flowers and spending time with her daughter, Carol. Margarette’s deep and abiding faith led her to be a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She also worshipped with her daughter at St. James Lutheran Church of Montague and Faith Lutheran Church of Whitehall. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Edward and Bill and sister, Alice. She is SURVIVED by daughter, Carol (Bill) Crevier of Whitehall; sister, Mary (Norman) Priest; sister-in-law, Lois Bluhm; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Delores Skiba and Betty Salsbury. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, April 14, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church (3225 Roosevelt Rd.) with Pastor Paul C. Appold officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery. For a more lasting MEMORIAL please consider Trinity Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels, Heartland Hospice, or the (ABVI) Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
