Mrs. Marian Mae McRoberts' Obituary
Mrs. Marian Mae McRoberts, age 98, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at her home. Marian was born July 17, 1918 to William H. and Gertrude B. (Wenzel) Tester in Merrill, MI. She was employed by Muskegon Public Schools for 22 years prior to her retirement in 1979. Marian was a longtime member of First Wesleyan Church, and wife of Pastor Homer McRoberts, where she taught Sunday School and played the organ and piano for many years. She also served as treasurer of the Women’s Missionary Society for 76 years. She was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and crocheting. Marian will be greatly missed by her children, Geraldine M. (Don) Corliss of St. Paul, MN, Marlene (Ben) Kautz of Whitehall, Leon R. (Kathy) Rumohr of Lakeland, FL and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd M. Rumohr in 1964 and Rev. Homer McRoberts in 1986; brothers, Cecil W. Tester and Evert L. Tester; sister, Velma Hutfiltz; stepsons, Lavern, Keith, and Lawrence McRoberts; stepdaughter, Dorcas McRoberts Root; and grandchild, Marva Stroud. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 7, 2017 at First Wesleyan Church, 1040 E. Forest Ave., with Rev. Michael Schultz officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., 231 726-5210 and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shelby, MI.
