Marian Louise Pratt's Obituary
Marian Louise Pratt, age 98, passed away in Muskegon on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Marian was born on August 4, 1923, in Pontiac, Michigan, to her parents Perry and Alova Ruth (Gance) Valencourt. She graduated from Mesick High School in 1942, then moved to Detroit, MI, to work in a factory during the war effort. On November 23, 1946, she married Harold Pratt in Muskegon, and they spent many wonderful years together before he preceded her in death in 1984. Marian worked as a Clerk at Beerman’s Music House in Muskegon for many years before retiring in 1995. She was a longtime member at Church of the Brethren, where she served as a deaconess, choir director, pianist, and organist. She loved to cook anything and everything, and she was blessed to travel to many places throughout her life, including Boston, Alaska, and France. She also walked across the Mackinaw Bridge many times throughout her life. Marian will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Gloria Davis, Marilyn (Robert) Armstrong, and Sharon (Ronald) Pimpleton; eight grandchildren: Brian Davis, Mindy Davis, Megan (Earl Wright) Davis, Elizabeth (Drew) Henderson, Matthew (Abbey) Armstrong, R.L. Pimpleton, Katrina (Ed) Pierce, and Tracie Williams; two siblings: Carolyn (Bob) Olson and Richard (Barbara) Valencourt; brother in-law, Ethmer Erisman; and special family friends, William and Marcia Workman, Deb and Mike Maclam, Billy Workman, and Jack Dickert. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Pratt; son in-law, Bill Davis; grandson, Christopher Pimpleton; four siblings: J. Roy Valencourt, Donald Valencourt, Mildred Ritchey, and Kathryn Erisman; dear friend, Hank Ippel; and Hank’s daughter, Janice Dickert. A FUNERAL SERVICE officiated by Lowell Wood will be taking place for Marian on Tuesday, June 14, at 2:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marian’s Memory can be made to The Muskegon Rescue Mission or Beta Tau: Read to Me.
