Marian L. Stuart's Obituary
Marian Louise Stuart affectionately known as “Grandma Rummery”, age 86, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018. She was born on December 11, 1931 to Albert and Marian (Warner) Thompson in St. Johns, MI. Marian was an inventor and had many teddy bear patents in her name. She taught watercolor and oil painting at Hobby Lobby for 20 years. She and Gus ran a foster home from 1962 – 1982, helping over 40 children find a safe place to live over that time. She enjoyed flowers and gardening; and made Christmas wreaths for many years. Her biggest love in her life was her family, her world revolved around not only her children, but the several children she sponsored in Africa through her church. She was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Marian is survived by her children, Harold “Hal” (Susan) Rummery, Linda King, Frederick “Fritz” (Carrie) Rummery, Susan Freedley; step-daughter, Katherine (Joseph) Provost; grandchildren, Scott (Patty) King, Tanya (Jack) Parks, Christopher (Danielle) King, Tyler (Lindy) Rummery, Joshua (Cassie) Rummery, Blake (Chiemi) Rummery, Kaitlin Rummery, , Zachariah Rummery, Milton Provost, Raymond Provost; great-grandchildren, Brandis Larson, Cheyenne King, Morgan Parks, Logan Parks, Leila Rummery, Colton Rummery; brother, Bruce (Mary) Thompson; sister, May Spidell; many nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 36 years, August “Gus” Frederick Rummery; late husband, Earlon Stuart; parents; five brothers and three sisters. A VISITATION with the family will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100) from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Burial will take place in Munro Township Cemetery at a later date and a memorial service for Marian will be held later in the spring. Feel free to share a memory with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
