Marianne Swick's Obituary
Marianne Swick, age 93, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 6, 2025. Marianne was born September 4, 1931, to Rosa J. (Handrich) and Jacob W. Ullrich in Belleville, Illinois. She received an elementary education degree in June 1953 from Illinois State Normal University and married George Elwood Swick, Jr. in Belleville two weeks later on June 20. They moved to Jackson, MI, where she taught physical education for two years until starting their family. Marianne was devoted to creating a warm and nurturing home for George and their three children and volunteering in school, church, and community endeavors as they moved from Jackson to Springfield, IL; to Edina, MN; and finally to Norton Shores in 1972. She was a member of Muskegon’s First Presbyterian Church, serving there in a variety of roles. Marianne’s faith in Christ carried her through her 93 years and continues on in her family. She is survived by her children: Randall G. (Sandra) Swick of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Donald E. (Leanne) Swick of Norton Shores, and Barbara A. (Craig) Mosher of Elk Rapids; 7 grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael) Cihak, Amanda (Scott) Rosselott, Lindsay (Terrell) Hannah, Katherine Swick, Allison (David) Mason, Erin (Justin) Levande, and Joshua (Autumn) Mosher; and great-grandchildren: Rylee and Jackson Cihak, Camden and Oliver Rosselott, Roman and Josiah Hannah, and Winifred Mason, with three more due this year. Marianne was preceded in death by her husband, George, brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Norma Ullrich, and brother-in-law, Thomas Swick. Marianne’s family is grateful for the compassionate care she received from the staff of Harbor Hospice and the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence.
