Marie Ellingboe's Obituary
Marie Ellingboe, age 78, of Spring Lake passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024. She was born May 27, 1945, in Grand Haven to Charles and Ruth (Krueger) Nash. She attended Grand Haven schools, Michigan State University, and earned a merchandising degree from Patricia Stevens College in Milwaukee. On September 19, 1970, she married the love of her life, William Ellingboe, in Grand Haven. Together, they spent many wonderful years in the northern Michigan towns of Grayling, Alpena, and Atlanta, before returning to her hometown.
Marie was a member of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church where she served as a greeter. She was also a member of the Grand Haven Eagles Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Marie loved spending time in her garden with her roses, gardenias, and the occasional cardinal. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping for meaningful souvenir gifts to bestow, and coffee with the Breakfast Club. More than anything else, she was devoted to her family and found joy in doing everything possible to ensure her loved ones were cared for and cherished.
Marie is survived by her husband of 53 years, William; three children: Lisa (Jon) Brown, Tom (Christine) Ellingboe and Bill Ellingboe; five grandchildren: Blair, Kellyn, and McKenna Horgan, Drew, and Jordanne Ellingboe; two step-grandchildren, J.T. and Josh (Erica) Brown; great step-granddaughter, Luna Brown; sister, Char Nash; brothers, Dean Nash and Casey (Mary) Nash; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Eric Ellingboe; brother-in-law, Tom Ellingboe and sisters-in-law, Arline Nash and Mary Ellingboe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Friday, May 3, 2024, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Schumaker officiating. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Thursday, May 2, 2024, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI. 49417. Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Marie may be given to the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center (NPDPSC), Case Western Reserve University, Advancement Services, 10900 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44106-7035.
