Mrs. Marie T. Greenwald's Obituary
Mrs. Marie T. Greenwald, age 92, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Poppen Residence, surrounded by family. Marie was born February 22, 1924 in Muskegon to John and Helen (Suida) Shatney. On August 16, 1947, she married Richard J. Greenwald and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1996. A lifelong resident, Marie and her husband co-owned the Sun Agency, and she worked there for over 63 years. As a young wife she worked at her husband’s restaurant, Dick’s Grill in Lakeside. Marie is a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, golfing, knitting, playing Skip Bo, going out to dinner with her daughters, as well as snow blowing. Most of all, Marie loved spending time with her family and is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Paul) Vanderwater, Cheryl (John) Kimball and Pamela (Dan) Matthews, all of the Muskegon area; 7 granddaughters; 2 step-grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, David Covell; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Richard, she was preceded in death by her parents; sons, John and Kevin; 6 brothers and 2 sisters. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11 AM Thursday, May 5, 2016, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Marian Chapel, 2929 McCracken. VISITATION will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., and 1 hour prior to the Mass (10-11 AM) at the church. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Harbor Hospice or St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
