Marie Hodges' Obituary
Mrs. Lottie Marie Hodges, age 88, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening in a local hospital following a short illness. Marie was born in Fairview, MI on June 12, 1920 the eldest of 14 children to Noah and Iva Belle (Valentine) Mast. She married Mr. William Hodges in Detroit in 1945 and moved to Muskegon. Mr. Hodges preceded her in death in 1969. Marie worked as a private duty nurses aide until retiring in 1992. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union “Tatra Hall”. She was a member of the Marine Corp League Auxiliary and had been very active in the Democratic Party. She is survived by: two daughters, Pamela (Charles) Fagan of Denver, CO and Suzanne (Emmett) Moore of Coopersville, MI; 22 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 7 sisters. Marie was also preceded in death by: two sons, Nolan and Raymond VanNortick and her special friend of 20 years, John “Spitz” Goodman in 2008.
