Marie Ann Olson "The Insurance Lady"'s Obituary
Marie Ann Olson “The Insurance Lady”, passed away peacefully at the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Residence on March 28, 2026. Marie was born on October 16, 1934 to Carl and Olive Olson in Bridgeton, Michigan. Maire graduated from Fremont High School and attended business college. She worked faithfully as an insurance coordinator for Orthopedic Associates of Michigan for 25 years and retired in 2006. Marie was exceptional at her job and during her career she affectionately became known as “The Insurance Lady.”
Marie was a hard worker who strived to provide for her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening. Marie also particularly enjoyed time spent with her granddaughter, Kaitlyn.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Susan Califf; granddaughter, Kaitlyn (Patrick) Sullivan; great-grandson, Declan; and special friend and caregiver of 18 years, Carla VanDerStelt. Marie is preceded in death by her son-in-law Henry Califf and special friend Donald Iverson.
A celebration of life gathering for Marie will be held on April 9, 2026, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Memorial contributions may be made to Noah Project in her honor.
