Marie A. Volek's Obituary
Mrs. Marie Alveretta Volek, age 97, passed away Sunday morning, November 25, 2007, at a local nursing home. Marie was born October 2, 1910 in Muskegon, to Grover and Theresa (Kemperman) Cottrell. On October 20, 1932, Marie married George Volek in Indiana. George preceded her in death on August 22, 1984. During her working years, she had been employed as a clerk at the Spartan’s Department Store and the Tots and Teens store. Marie was a member of St Francis de Sales Catholic Church and, prior to that, St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she cooked for many years. Marie is SURVIVED by her 2 daughters, Jan (Henry) Salisz of Muskegon, and Georgia Lee Hebert of Washington; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Cottrell. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11AM Thursday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church Marian Chapel (2929 McCracken) with Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Simons Presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be Wednesday from 6-8 PM with a 6:30PM Scripture Service at
