Mrs. Marilyn Kay Bacon's Obituary
Mrs. Marilyn Kay Bacon, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2017. She was born on March 10, 1930 to Earl and Edna (Kreager) Vivier in Farmington, MI. Marilyn married Bob “Rennie” Bacon in 1949 in Farmington, MI, and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage before he passed away earlier this year. They resided in Oscoda, MI for most of their marriage but she always had a place for Empire, MI in her heart. Marilyn and her husband were equal parts of a team, passionately dedicated to their family and always spending time with their children and grandchildren. Marilyn possessed a strength of character and personality that was an inspiration to all. This was especially evident in her progressive thinking reflected in her acceptance of society’s cultural changes over the years. Marilyn enjoyed golfing and cheering for the Michigan State Spartans along with her husband. She attended church at Oscoda UMC and volunteered at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital for over 30 years. Marilyn and Rennie also liked to have a good time with their friends. Now rest, Mom, unencumbered by the weight. Team “Bum” is, once again, complete. Marilyn will be deeply missed by her children, Scott (Donna) Bacon, Jim (Marilyn) Bacon, Wendy (Gary) Merkey, and Tony Bacon; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Karen Bacon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rennie; son, Rennie Guy; parents; and 3 sisters. A private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oscoda Educational Opportunity Foundation in Bob and Marilyn’s name or American Diabetes Association. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. Please visit the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
