Marilyn M. (Hulka) Barney's Obituary
Marilyn M. (Hulka) Barney, age 75, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 23, 1943 in Muskegon to John and Cleona (Ritz) Hulka and was a life resident. Marilyn graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and received her associate’s degree as an LPN at Muskegon Community College. Prior to her retirement in 2004, she worked over 20 years as a custodian for Fruitport Community Schools. Marilyn also owned and operated “Marilyn’s Candy Creations” as what began as a hobby turned into a business into her retirement years. She was active with the 4-H and owned the horse “Gentle Leader” for many years during the Muskegon Race Course operations. She was a member of the Fruitport Eagles, enjoyed bowling, cooking and rescuing stray animals. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Jannette (Jerry) Bole, Jacquelyn (John) Ball, John (Amy) Hulka; 4 grandchildren, Jordan, Jadyn, Alex, Hunter (Kaitlyn); 1 brother, Marty (Chris) Hulka; 2 sisters-in-law, Carol Hulka, Betty Hulka; aunt, Berta McClellan; special cuz, Dawn DeVowe; longtime companion, Gene Roltsch; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers, Johnny and Bob Hulka. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 29, 2018 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 with Rev. Bryan Heiss officiating.
