Marilyn J. Bekkering's Obituary
Mrs. Marilyn J. Bekkering, 85, passed away Tuesday morning, December 22, in Howard City. She was born September 22, 1930 to Roy and Gwendolyn (Ankarberg) Berglund in Muskegon, and lived almost all of her life here until she moved to Howard City 2 years ago. She had been a very active member at Dalton Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening and singing, and had also been a foster parent to several children. On May 26, 1951 Marilyn married Elvin L. Bekkering, and he preceded her in death on January 28, 2005. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Timothy Bekkering, Christine (John) Poniatowski, Paul (Lisa) Bekkering, Sarah (Patrick) Bollin; 5 grandchildren, Gabriella, Gracey, Stephanie, Susan and Christina; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Nancy White; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ron, Tom, and Eddy Berglund. The funeral service for Mrs. Bekkering will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 29, at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, with Pastor Scott Church officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Monday, and 1 hour prior to the service.
