Marilyn J. Carriere's Obituary
Marilyn J. Carriere, age 82, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016. She was born November 11, 1933 in Frankfort, MI to Charles and Mary (Keillor) Dewell and was raised by her mother and step-father, Edward Reardon. Marilyn had worked at Hackley Hospital for 22 years prior to her retirement in 1990. On May 9, 1953 she married Charles E. Carriere, Sr. in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2013. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and had also been involved with the S.S. Milwaukee Clipper Preservation. She enjoyed playing dominoes, gardening, knitting, crocheting, reading, and computer games. For 15 years she had also owned and operated Lake Sch-Nepp-A-Ho family campground in Muskegon. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Charles “Chuck” (Barb) Carriere, Jr. of Norton Shores, Michelle (Rick) Gorman of Sumner, WA, Chris (Sue) Carriere of Norton Shores; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene (Jim) Kroeze of Grand Haven; and many nieces and nephews. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. James R. VanderLaan presiding. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM.
