Marilyn June Porter Hewitt's Obituary
Marilyn June Porter Hewitt was born November 15, 1928 in Kent County, MI. She passed away December 5, 2020 in Muskegon MI.
Marilyn worked many years at White Insulating Company in North Muskegon before moving to Traverse City, where she worked at Cherry Growers until her retirement. Marilyn’s life was spent protecting and celebrating her family. Her greatest loves, other than her family, were her dog Turbo, a favorite Squirrel that lived in a tree just outside her window, playing Bingo with friends, and going to casinos with her son, Dennis. In addition, she abhorred politics, and frequently referred to politicians as “them sons of B’s!” as often as she could.
She was preceded in death by parents, Preston William Porter and Ruby (Townsend) Porter; stepmother, Henrietta Porter; brothers, Robert and Dwayne Porter; sister, Maryanne Tummer; son, William V. Hewitt; and stepchildren, Gerald and Nancy Hewitt.
She will be deeply missed by her son, Dennis (Kristi) Porter; grandchildren, Dennis Porter Jr, Dana (Steve) Hunt, Andrew (Ashley) Porter; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 11, 2021 at Laketon Township Cemetery with Pastor Joe Lane officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harbor Hospice Foundation of Muskegon in Marilyn's name. A special thanks to the staff at Hillcrest Nursing Home for their loving care of Marilyn. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
