Mrs. Marilyn Lou Rafferty's Obituary
On Wednesday, February 4, 2015 the Lord sent his angels to take Marilyn Lou Rafferty home. Marilyn was born April 30, 1931 in Grand Haven to Chester and Evelyn (Nyquist) Crow. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Rafferty in 2008; her parents and 2 younger brothers. She is SURVIVED by her children, Linda (Daniel) Bates, Dennis (Diane Forester) Brown, Debbie Brown, Steven Rafferty and Dawn (Wayne) Rife; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Crow; a sister, Maxine (Ben) Bartlett; and many nieces and nephews. Many years ago Marilyn worked as a nanny for a family in Grosse Pointe for 3 years. She later worked a button factory and at JC Penney when the new store opened on Henry Street. Marilyn loved to deer hunt and fish. She so loved her grandchildren and had many sleepovers at her home in Lakeside where she would always have some kind of craft for them to make or would play Crazy 8’s or “Go Fish” with them; Grandma’s house was their second home. You could always find something good cooking on Grandma’s stove. She was surrounded by her five children and most of her grandchildren at the time of her passing. She will be fondly remembered by all of them and will be sadly missed. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Lakeside Community Church, 1655 W. Norton Ave. with Dr. Zawdie K. Abiade officiating. VISITATION will be ½ hour prior to the service (2:30-3PM). MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Mercy VNS Hospice. Burial will be made in Fruitport Cemetery.
