Mrs. Marilyn J. Stebbins' Obituary
Mrs. Marilyn Jane Stebbins, age 82, of Spring Lake passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at Heartwood Lodge in Ferrysburg surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 4, 1932 in Detroit to Helen (Wilkins) Herber Pickard. She married Lawrence Stebbins on July 17, 1954 in Port Huron, Michigan.
Marilyn and her family moved to Spring Lake from Hart, MI, in 1971. She was employed at North Ottawa Community Hospital in the Medical Records department. She was very active at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Muskegon. Marilyn loved traveling and spent many years wintering in Florida. She and her husband assisted in helping with food production in numerous parts of West Africa. She also went to India through Rotary International with a group study exchange. Marilyn was a wonderful cook, was involved in the 4-H program, and was a founder of the Red Cross Bloodmobile in Oceana County.
Survivors include her loving husband, Lawrence “Larry”; one daughter, Marilee (James) Buxton of Ionia, MI; three sons: Lawrence Jr. (Betty) Stebbins of Lancaster, CA, David (Nancy) Stebbins of Fruitport, MI, and Richard Stebbins of Fennville, MI; six grandchildren: Annika (Thomas) Wilson, Cariann (Nicholas) Nagy, Lukas (Monica) Buxton, Anthony “Tony” Carlucci, Katie (Kyle LeRoux) Stebbins, and Aaron Stebbins; and one great-grandchild Elijah Wilson. Also surviving are one brother, Henry John (Linda) Herber; sister-in-law, Diane Herber of Port Huron, MI, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen; brother, Joseph Herber; and granddaughter, Samantha Stebbins.
The funeral service for Marilyn will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 19, 2015 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Muskegon with Rev. Timothy Winkel officiating. Friends are invited to meet the family Thursday 4-8:00 P.M. at the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Chapel in Spring Lake, or one hour prior to the service on Friday. Marilyn’s Christian burial will be held at Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Marilyn may be given to the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
