Marine Louis Goodin Sr.'s Obituary
Marine Louis Goodin, Sr., age 85, of Muskegon passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at home, with his loving wife and beloved children by his side on Sunday, December 13, 2020. He was born March 21, 1935, in West Olive, MI to Alfred A. and Vertie A. (Ross) Goodin, and he married Lenora E. Eastling on October 20, 1956, in Nunica, MI.
Marine graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1953. He worked as a tool & die maker at Cedar Springs Tool & Die and also for Viking Tool & Die, as well as Camfields and Brunswick during his working years. He was a member of Fremont Nazarene Church and Sun City Nazarene Church in Arizona where he served as an usher. Marine loved golfing and had been a member of Benona Golf Course since 2007. He always kept busy as a handyman, and was known as “Mr. Fix-it” to the point of perfection. Marine’s favorite pastime was playing cribbage, and with a little assistance, he was able to play just four days before he passed away. His other interests were hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and most important to him was spending time with his family. Marine and his wife were foster parents for many years.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Lenora Goodin; four children: LuAnn McElfish, Rosetta Kim Cargill, Marion Noble, and Marine “Butch” Goodin, Jr.; seventeen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, John Reid, foster daughter, Lenora (Burt) Hoard. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vertie Reid; two grandsons, Eric Miller and Ricky Enders; his brother, John Goodin; sister, Rosetta Taylor; and son-in-law, Brian Noble. He was called “dad” by many others.
