Marion Louise Nelson's Obituary
Marion Louise Nelson, age 86, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023, at the American House in Holland, MI. She was born September 30, 1936, in Chicago, IL, to William and Dorothy (Langlois) Homoly. Marion married the love of her life, Carl Nelson, on October 5, 1957 and they were able to have 65 wonderful years together. Blueberries became an integral part of her life as she helped Carl run the Nelson’s Blueberry Farm in West Olive, MI. She spent many hours helping package the blueberries, but there was one thing about those blueberries she never really grew accustomed to, the taste. When Marion was not helping on the farm, you could find her tending to her flower garden or making the world’s best cookies. She enjoyed being active by taking long walks and exercising. She also loved her red Chevy Impala, especially when she could take it to go shopping. She will be remembered for the love she showed to her family, especially her grandchildren, and her commitment to her faith and living the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Marion will be deeply missed by her husband, Carl; daughter, Maria (Matt) Nelson-Baker; sons, Mike (Pam) Nelson, John (DeAnna) Nelson, Paul (Lori) Nelson and Tom (Joy) Nelson; grandchildren, David, Brian, Josh, Kyle, Alesha, Kaitlyn, Kara, Mathew, Jacob, Tera, Brody and Lydia; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon (Eustace) Collins, Carol Schmidt and Sandra Collins; and brother, Arthur Homoly. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jeannette Romberger and Dorothy Homoly; and brothers, William, James, Thomas and George Homoly.
VISITATION with the family will be held 5-7 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417.
