Marjorie F. Barnes' Obituary
Marjorie F. Barnes, age 98, passed away Wednesday morning, March 4, 2020. She was born January 20, 1922 in Muskegon Heights to Fredrick and Myrtle (Kollar) Wolfe and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. On April 21, 1945, she married Morris S. Barnes in Norfolk, Virginia and after Morris left the Navy, they settled in Muskegon. Morris preceded her in death on April 27, 2012. Marjorie was a secretary in the Social Science Department at Muskegon Community College from 1966, retiring in 1987. She was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church. SURVIVORS include 4 children: Barbara (Henry) Hand of Painesville, Ohio, Donald (Debbie) Barnes of The Villages, Florida, Richard (Elizabeth) Barnes of Greenfield, Wisconsin, David (Cindy) Barnes of Ludington; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Bowden of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Violet Elzinga-Slavin. SERVICES for Marjorie will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 9, 2020 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210 with Rev. Mark Miller officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-5 PM Sunday, March 8, 2020. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
