Marjorie "Marty" Keur's Obituary
Marjorie “Marty” Keur, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 8, 2022. She was born on May 13, 1932 to Gerrit and Anna (Stam) VanderWiel in Otley, Iowa. After a childhood on the farm, Marjorie moved with her family to Pella, Iowa. She held several jobs, primarily working for the Rolscreen Company (Pella Windows). In these years, Marjorie and her sister, Anna Mae, formed a lifelong friendship with Dena and Anne Bokhoven. It was on a vacation with these friends that Marjorie met Charles Keur. They were married on May 14, 1954, and she lived the remainder of her life in Muskegon, Michigan. Charles preceded her in death on November 28, 2020. Marjorie cared for her family with kindness and patience. She enjoyed sewing and time with friends and loved ones. Marjorie was formerly a member of First Christian Reformed Church and now of Grace Christian Reformed Church. SURVIVORS include two daughters, Barb (Jim) Malda and Mary (Dan) Brouwer; four grandchildren, Cathy (Clay) Burkhalter, David (Sara) Malda, Neil (Amy) Brouwer and Russell (Sarah) Brouwer; four great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Helen Burkhalter, and Henry and Tess Malda; sister, Anna Mae VanderWiel. Marjorie was also preceded in death by brothers Gerald, Frank, Henry and Raymond; and sister, Ruthie. VISITATION for the public with Marjorie’s family will be held from 11:00 to 11:45AM, Thursday, September 15, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A private family service will follow. Burial will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery.
