Marjorie Lachniet's Obituary
Mrs. Marjorie Rykse Schneider Lachniet, age 84, passed away Sunday morning, July 31, 2011 in Muskegon. She was born May 2, 1927 to George and Anna (DeRuiter) Rykse in Grand Rapids, and lived in the Muskegon area since 1954. Marj worked as a clerk for Mona Shores Public Schools for 23 years, retiring in 1989. Marj’s passion was her church, Westwood Reformed, where she served as a deacon as well as a major devotee of Sunday school and bible groups. She was also passionate about the Muskegon Woman’s Club where she served as past president and historian. Marjorie loved gardening, quilting, water color painting, reading, and traveling. She was married to Russell J. Schneider on January 5, 1951, and he preceded her in death on September 8, 1989. She later married Dennis Lachniet on October 26, 2002, and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2010. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Susan Stone Leister, Jeff (Melody)Schneider, Laurel (Dan) Shugars; daughter-in-law, Joyce Schneider; son-in-law, Mick (Sherri) McCully; 4 step-children, Dr. Scott (Donna) Lachniet, Kathy Lachniet, Denise Lachniet, Barb (Walter) Pickett; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren, 1 step great-grandson; 1 sister, Ebbie Boelema . Marjorie was also preceded in death by 1 daughter, Barbara McCully; and 1 son, Russell J. Schneider II; and seven siblings. SERVICES will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 6, at the Westwood Reformed Church, 3025 Glenside Blvd, Muskegon, 49441, with Rev. Scott VanArendonk officiating. Burial will take place at Norton Cemetery.
