Marjorie I. Mundt's Obituary
Marjorie I. Mundt, age 100, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 in Muskegon. Marjorie was born on July 17, 1921 in Muskegon to William and Estella (Bisard) Blood, and resided in the area all of her life. She was a graduate of Muskegon High School, Class of 1939. Marjorie worked for Standard Automotive from 1940-1972, and then as an LPN nurse at Hackley Hospital from 1972 until her retirement in 1991. She was a longtime member of Crestwood United Methodist Church on both Wood Ave and Crestwood St., where she was a Sunday School teacher and head of the kitchen for many years. Marjorie was also President of the United Methodist Women, volunteered at the American Red Cross, Orchard View PTA, as a crossing guard, MAPS Supper House, Muskegon Township (Shady Park) Women’s Club and was a usher at the Frauenthal Theatre. She enjoyed playing board games with friends and family, gardening, canning and weekends at the cottage on McLaren Lake. On October 6, 1943, Marjorie married Howard Mundt and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2012 after 68 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include her son, Steven (Jeannine) Mundt; five grandchildren, Kelly Mundt, Sonya Blood, Leslie Blood, Ira “Bo” (Brittany) Shine, Fatima (Nathan) Peltier; six great grandchildren, Anija Graham, Jayda Mundt, Layla Mundt, Dean Bergren, Jr, Jemma Shine, Stella Shine; sister, Geraldine Lambkin; sisters-in-law, Wilma Blood and Ruth Blood; along with several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Heather, Dar and Garret. Marjorie was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Estella Blood; the Blood family relatives: Archie (Elva) Blood, Chuck (Shirly) Blood, Bill Blood, brother-in-law, Robert Lambkin and Mary Blood of whom Marjorie was guardian of. She was also preceded in death by the Mundt family relatives: Emily Mundt, Harold (Frances) Whiteman, Fred (Florence) Mundt, Charles (Lenore) Mundt, Benard (Catherine) Mundt, Alice Mundt, brothers-in-law, Walter (Louise Mundt) Campbell and Ray Baker. Marjorie’s family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan for their loving care, especially Madeline, Melisa and Sue.
