Marjorie Ann Peterman's Obituary
Marjorie Ann (Puffer) Peterman, age 84, passed away Sat., June 24, 2023. She was born April 20, 1939, in Grand Rapids, MI to Niley and Mabel (Seguin) Puffer. She grew up in Ferry, MI and graduated from Shelby High School, Class of 1958. After graduation, she attended Muskegon Community College and Muskegon Business College. She had been previously employed as a telephone switchboard operator, quality lab tech at Gerber, and as a secretary at Prudential Insurance and Bemis. On June 9, 1962, she married James Peterman, Sr. in Muskegon, and recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. She devoted the rest of her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had been a member for 47 years at Fifth Reformed Church, now Discovering Christ Church. She enjoyed travel, ceramics, creating artificial floral decorations, singing, and entertaining in her family home.
Marge is survived by her husband, James Peterman, Sr., children, James (Cathy) Peterman, Jr. and Brian (Susan) Peterman; grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Ryan) Greaves, James Peterman, III, and Danielle (Jacob) Ritsema; step-grandchildren, Jessica (Alex) Smith, Chris (Sara) Brimmer, and Matthew Brimmer; nine great grandchildren; brother, Donald Puffer; sister-in-law, Linda Puffer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy (Larry) Luytjes, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Clarence and Mabel Peterman, son Scott Peterman, brother Lyle John Puffer, sister Carol Lynn Puffer, sister-in-law Roberta (Bobbie) Puffer, half-sister and brother-in-law Barbara (Hubert) Burmeister, half-brother and sister-in-law Robert (Millie) Johnson, foster parents James and Nellie Williams, foster brother Anthony Williams, and foster sister Maxine Williams.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Mercy VNS, Trinity Health Hospital, Care Patrol, Northcrest Assisted Living, and special friend Diana Thomas for the assistance and care Marge received.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Discovering Christ Church (2330 Holton Rd, Muskegon, MI) with Pastor Scott VanArendonk officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5pm to 8pm, Thursday, June 29, 2023, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 and one hour prior to the service at church. MEMORIALS can be directed to Discovering Christ Church or Harbor Hospice. Burial will take place at Norton Cemetery.
