Marjorie Clara Velik's Obituary
Mrs. Marjorie Clara Zimmerman Velik, age 104, of Grand Haven passed away Friday, December 3, 2021. She was born October 26, 1917, in Wonewoc, WI, to the late Edward and Clara (Giebel) Zimmerman of Grand Haven.
Marjorie was confirmed at St. Paul’s Church of Evangelical and Reformed Church of Grand Haven on May 13, 1934, by Pastor Koch. On September 19, 1940, she married Mike Velik at St. Paul’s Church by Pastor Ebeling. They were married 57 years at the time of Mike’s death and enjoyed many years of Polka dancing together at the eagles.
Marjorie worked for Peerless Novelty Company during WWII and was a home maker for many years. She was a former member of the local 4 H club, a Girl and Boy Scout’s leader and a member of the Peach Plains Extension Study group. She was awarded the Official Golden Age Eagle Receipt by the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She crocheted for many years and many beautiful items the family members now have in their homes to enjoy. She was very involved at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in the Martha Circle, Senior Fun Night and Women’s Fellowship.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Velik on December 7, 1997; brothers, Raymond, Wesley, Herbert, Edward, John, Earl, Arthur, Stanley, and Alfred; sister, Caroline (Leva) Ray; sisters-in-law, Amelia Christianson, Jean (Stanley) Zimmerman, Dorie (Chuck) Velik; brothers-in-law, Chuck Velik, and John Velik, Jr; daughter, Judy Kubicki; son, Ronald Velik, sons-in-law, David Kieft, Gene Kubicki and Doug Suber.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Suber; son, Terry (Beverly) Velik; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; sister, Clara Anne (Moore) Hitsman.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 9, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place Historic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Marjorie may be given to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Hospice of North Ottawa Community, and Robbinswood Assisted Living Community.
