Marjorie J. Horness' Obituary
Mrs. Marjorie J. Horness, age 88, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 16, 2009 in Muskegon. She was born January 28, 1921 in Muskegon to Edwin and Clara (Olson) Wiersma, and resided here her entire life. Mrs. Horness was an active member of Olivet Evangelical Free Church, where she was involved with their sewing circle. She also was a member of P.E.O., and volunteered for Hackley Hospital for 50 years. She loved gardening, reading, sewing, needlepoint, and crafts. On March 14, 1946 she married Warren S. Horness, and he preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory Horness; and siblings, Phyllis, Roger and Shirley. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Nancy (Donald) Desnoyers of Racine, Wisconsin and Stanley (Elizabeth) Horness of Twin Lake; 3 grandchildren, Andrew (Carrie) Desnoyers, Erik Desnoyers, and Torrey Horness; siblings, Jack (Olga) Wiersma of Norton Shores, Joyce (Dr. Kenneth) Johnson of North Muskegon; and Jerry (Lois) Wiersma also of Norton Shores. SERVICES will be 11 AM Friday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. Craig Cramblet officiating. VISITATION with her family will be 6-8 PM Thursday. Burial will take place in Mona View Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to the Muskegon Rescue Mission will be appreciated.
