Mark Steven Remkes' Obituary
Mark Steven Remkes, age 66, of Grand Haven passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. He was born in Grand Haven to John Mitchel and Mildred Virgil (Childs) Remkes.
Mark served his country in the Marines and attended Ferris State University and Muskegon Community College. He worked as a computer programmer for Sealed Power Corporation, Eagle Ottawa Leather Company, and lastly worked at Tag Industries in Indiana. Mark loved cars, car shows, and owned a Ford Mustang the same style as seen in the movie Bullit. He also loved watching action movies and would always “fast forward” to the chase scenes. Mark was a tenacious Cribbage player and loved walking in Grand Haven.
He is lovingly remembered by two daughters, Rachel (Russ) Simila and Laurie Murphy; five grandchildren: Holden Simila, Harper Simila, Corbin Murphy, Lillian Murphy and Nora Murphy; his brother, Robert “Bob” Remkes; former wife, Kathy Sorensen; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, William “Bill” Remkes and Michael “Mike” Remkes.
