The last time I saw Mark was at the wedding of my brother Michael (Fawley) and Mary Varela back in 1994. Mark and I were paired together, and were part of the wedding party. I thought we were the best looking couple actually- lol Mark was a sweetheart and in the short time I was around him, I knew he was a good soul. I was deeply saddened to learn of Mark's tragic accident and death. My brother Mike had called me. I was shocked. First person that came to my mind was Bianca. My heart is heavy for Mark's siblings but more importantly, it is heavy for Bianca. It is so hard to lose a parent and no one knows that better then I do after losing both our parents within 5 months of each other. I also have a daughter, so I have much empathy for Bianca. I hope with all my heart the days ahead are not too hard on Bianca but we all know it will be. Bianca, you are in my prayers sweetie. Hang in there and surround yourself with people who care about you and have your best interest always. The pain never goes away but it does get a bit easier. I went to school with Mark since the first grade. We graduated together from mcc. We always sat by each other because our names were at the end of the alphabet. I got to be great friends with him. My only regret is that we didn't stay close after graduating. My mom loved Markey. Every time she saw him she would pinch his cheeks. Mark never complained. God Bless you my friend. I send my prayers to the Varela family. This is so tragic. Heaven awaits him .
Mary and family, I wish I had the words to ease your pain. Mary, I know you loved your brother, Mark very deeply. May you and your family find comfort in your memories and know that he will always be a part of you. My heartfelt sympathy is with you all at this most difficult of times. ~Dottie

Mark, Mike and I spent a LOT of time together this past yr, Casinos, football games, grill cookouts on Mikeys porch. You are missed so much already. Your goofiness and humor. Thank you for sharing your dog Gonzo with my youngest daughter for 4 days! He would not leave her side at all and u knew they would be friends for life! You will be sitting next to me in spirit at the U of M game. I promise to look after your brother Mike always. Not goodbye I will see u later buddy! Not friends til the end, friends forever RIP. And to the entire Varela family, I love all of you. Thank you for your compassion and kindness. Prayers sent your way during this difficult time. Mark was always full of surprises, I worked with him over a year and got to know him well, he was very caring and always willing to listen and share stories. He talked about his daughter a lot I could tell he loved her a great deal. My best memories include songs , we would see each other and he would start singing it was a game we played I'd have to guess the song and artist, most days i could guess his but not always, and the next day I would sing and he would guess,, he always got mine. Anyways that's the memories that really stick out. He was a great guy and I will truly miss his presence. We love you Mark
