Mark Edward Garvey's Obituary
Mr. Mark Edward Garvey, age 51, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Dayton, Ohio. Mark was born March 21, 1960 in Muskegon to William and Carole (VonHohenstein) Garvey. On February 20, 1993, he married the former Karen Larson and she survives him. Mark had worked as an over the road driver since 1997. Prior to that, Mark had worked as an EMS dispatcher for Pro Med Ambulance Services. He was a member of the Muskegon Heights Eagles FOE # 2106 and The Sons of the American Legion Post #28. Mark was an avid University of Michigan fan and a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife Karen, SURVIVORS include his daughter, Mandi (Ben Hogston) Garvey; son, Adam (Elizabeth Cierpial) Garvey; granddaughter, Sofie Garvey-Hogston; mother, Carole Garvey; mother and father-in-law, Arnold and Mable Jean Larson; mother of his children, Billie Jo Dudley; brother, Gregory Garvey; sisters, Sally (Chip) Dion, and Melissa (Warren) Woods all of Muskegon; many nieces and nephews; and his puppy and best friend, Bruno. Mark was preceded in death by his son, Matthew; his father; and sister, Amy Schleben. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with Rev. Fr. Jack LaGoe officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (10-11AM). MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the family.
